How Fansly works: signing up, paying and what's free
· Minettes VIP
Here's how Fansly works if you're the one watching: you create an account with an email and your age, no card; following a creator is free, and that shows you whatever she leaves open; for everything else you subscribe and pay monthly. What almost nobody mentions is that Fansly has an internal wallet you can top up with cryptocurrency, so you can pay without handing your card to anyone. Below: signing up, the payment methods that actually work, what to do when a charge is declined, and how to cancel.
This post is for you if you're going to use Fansly to watch content. It's not for you if you want to sell on Fansly: there what matters is the commission and the payouts, and that's in OnlyFans alternatives for Latina models.
What Fansly is, and how it differs from OnlyFans
It's an adult subscription-content platform, OnlyFans's direct competitor. For the person paying, three differences matter: you can follow for free (on OnlyFans a profile is either free entirely or you see nothing), profiles can have several tiers at different prices, and it accepts crypto through its wallet. The full comparison is in OnlyFans vs Fansly for the person paying.
How you sign up
- Email and password, or sign in with Google or X. It asks for no card to register.
- You confirm you're of legal age. Depending on the country you'll also have to verify your age with a document; from Mexico, for now, the declaration is enough.
- You can then search profiles and follow for free. The card or the wallet only come in when you subscribe or unlock something.
Becoming a creator does require government ID. Watching doesn't.
Following free is not being subscribed
| Follow | Subscribe | Unlock | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Costs | 0 | Her monthly rate | The item's price |
| You see | Whatever she opens to followers | All her subscription content | That photo or video |
| Renews | Nothing renews | Yes, monthly, until you cancel | One-off payment |
Following is not a free trial: it never turns into a paid subscription on its own and it charges you nothing. Exactly what you can see without paying is broken down in Is Fansly free?.
How you subscribe to a creator
Go to her profile, pick the tier (if she has several), hit subscribe, and choose what to pay with: a saved card or your wallet balance. The charge is immediate and repeats every month on the same date.
What you can pay with
| Method | Does it work? |
|---|---|
| Visa and Mastercard, credit or debit | Yes, the normal route |
| Maestro and Discover | Yes, depending on the bank |
| Reloadable prepaid Visa/Mastercard | Yes, and it's the discreet card option |
| Fansly wallet topped up with crypto | Yes, and you need no card |
| American Express | Usually not |
| PayPal | No |
| Gift cards | No |
| Cash | No |
The "alternative methods" menu changes by country — the documented ones are European, such as iDEAL or Bancontact. Check your payment settings to see what you're offered; what's always there is the card and the wallet.
And if you're joining from Colombia, Venezuela or Chile
Fansly works the same across Latin America: there's no country version, no local-currency pricing and no local payment methods. Two things change:
- What your bank charges you. The subscription is in dollars; your bank converts it at its own rate and usually adds a foreign-purchase fee. In Argentina, withholdings on foreign-currency purchases push the final figure up considerably.
- Whether your card works abroad. This is the real obstacle in Venezuela and, depending on the bank, in Colombia: many local debit cards aren't enabled for international purchases. If that's your case, the wallet topped up with cryptocurrency is the route that does work, because it never touches your bank.
Everything else —following free, the tiers, cancelling without losing the month you paid— is identical in all three countries.
The Fansly wallet: the no-card route
Instead of paying by card every time, you preload a balance into your Fansly wallet and spend it on subscriptions, tips and paid posts. If there's enough balance, it gets used directly.
And the wallet tops up with cryptocurrency: BTC, ETH, LTC, BCH, USDT (ERC20, TRC20, Polygon, SPL), USDC, Dash, XRP, TRX and SOL, among others. That's the practical difference from OnlyFans, which takes cards only: if you don't have a card or don't want to give it, Fansly has a path. Other card-free routes are in how to pay for OnlyFans without a card.
Two warnings, both from Fansly's own help: the minimum and maximum top-up amounts are shown on screen when you pick the currency, and if you send less than the selected amount, fees may apply — so what lands in your balance isn't always what you sent. Send the exact amount.
If your payment is declined
It's almost always your bank, not Fansly. Check, in this order: that the card has online and international purchases enabled, that it isn't blocked from earlier attempts, that the name and address match your bank's records, and that there's balance including the foreign-purchase fee. If you try three or four times in a row, the block usually comes from the bank and you'll have to call them.
What you shouldn't do is dispute the charge with your bank instead of cancelling: a chargeback is treated as fraud and takes the account with it.
How to cancel without losing what you paid
On your subscriptions page, the cogwheel on the creator's profile, then "Don't Renew Subscription." Fansly's own help puts it plainly: you keep access to her content until the current billing period ends. It doesn't lock you out on the spot.
If you'd rather pay nothing
The side-by-side comparison of the two, with what each journey looks like, is in Fansly or Minettes VIP.
For comparison: on Minettes VIP you get in with an email and your age, no card, and you see the photo sessions and the videos with ads and a daily cap; free access renews every 30 days. Premium costs $5 USD a month ($25 for six, $45 for twelve) as a one-time payment through Coinbase, with no auto-renewal. It isn't Fansly and it isn't the creator you follow there: it's our own catalog of Latina models. How it works, in Minettes VIP free with ads.
Frequently asked questions
If you are comparing with Fanvue, the mechanics are similar but with a catch: there the free trial does convert into a paid subscription. It is in how Fanvue works.
